Le Barrettage is a Rhone-lover’s dream wine. A Syrah-based blend, this wine showcases Heidi's favorite vineyard sites and melds an old-world sensibility with the power of Napa Valley fruit. Rich, velvety, earthy, and ripe, Le Barrettage has already won many fans with its unique character and beautiful flavor profile.

From Heidi: Announcing our 2013 “Le Barrettage” Rhone style blend. The name came to me a couple winters ago while driving up to Tahoe to go skiing. It’s a fusion of my last name with the classic Rhone wine region Hermitage. Just makes you smile! I hope the smiling will continue when you taste this amazingly rich, silky and absolutely delicious wine. With a Rhone-style bottle, the label also has some delightful French-inspired surprises. The blend comes from several Syrah sites including our own Barrett Vineyards (a tiny 2-acre block at the foot of Mount St. Helena), some Grenache from a vineyard site in the eastern hills of St Helena, and a dollop of Petite Sirah from a neighboring vineyard in Calistoga. All are exceptional vineyard sites, quite rocky and steep, producing an incredibly layered, textural, and complex wine. I was only able to make 285 cases of this special bottling so I hope you will get a chance to enjoy it.

TASTING NOTES

Impressively dark in the glass, almost black ruby or blackberry in color. Deep aromas of fully ripe fruit, classic Syrah aromas of smoked meat, bacon, both red and black plums, pomegranate juice, mineral earth, and a hint of white pepper. A silk bomb across the palate (it’s a “wow”). Cashmere comes to mind. Flavors are layered and delicious with a seamless long finish. This is a thing of beauty for Rhone style wine lovers and a phenomenal vintage in the Napa Valley. A blend of two different Syrah blocks, Grenache for liveliness, and a tiny splash of Petite Sirah for added power. This delicious proprietary “Rhone style” blend from La Sirena was given an additional year in bottle before release because honestly, it just keeps getting better!
